A New Beginning

After much soul-searching and looking to the stars for direction, I have decided to take on a new adventure in 2009.

In early January I will leave my cosy home and life in the cool green hills of Healesville and relocate to Elcho Island, a remote island off the coast of Arhnem Land, in the Arafura Sea.

There, I will be living and working with the local Aboriginal community, the Yolgnu. My job will be Manager of Elcho Island Arts. This will include running the local art centre (which has two visual arts galleries), and working with the artists to create new art works to be exhibitied and sold nationally and internationally.

I am excited and daunted by the adventure that lies ahead. I leave behind my partner, home and dog (although I'll get the see them regularly throughout the year) and will be living and working in a new culture and landscape.

My plan is to share and document the things I see, learn and experience along the way.
